Retro game sticks — plug into TV, play 400+ classics in 4K

The simplest path back to NES, SNES, Genesis, GameCube, and PS1 nostalgia: a single HDMI stick that plugs into your TV and runs 400+ classic games via emulation. We carry the brands that actually work — Maizic G5, Zepplay 4K, Bop It Game Stick Lite, VGRASSP 2-Player. Most are ₹1,500–4,500. We've tried the cheap ones and dropped them. Walk in, hands-on demo on our display TV before you buy.

Why a retro game stick instead of an actual SNES

₹2,000 of stick gives you what ₹15,000 of original hardware would.

An original SNES with a working 30-game cartridge library will set you back ₹12,000–18,000 in 2026 — and you still need a CRT TV (or a fancy upscaler) to make it look right. A modern retro game stick costs ₹1,500–4,500, plugs into any modern TV via HDMI, outputs 1080p or 4K, and includes 400 to 10,000 games via emulation. आपके बच्चे के लिए perfect — और आपकी nostalgia के लिए भी — perfect for kids, perfect for nostalgia.

The catch is that not all sticks are equal. The bottom of the market is full of garbage that drops controller input, has terrible emulator quality, and dies in 3 months. We've tested most of what's on Amazon India and we only stock the brands that hold up. The price difference between 'works well for years' and 'broken in a month' is usually ₹500–1,000 — worth paying.

Below: the retro game sticks we carry, with the use-case each is best for. The 'best stick for you' depends on (1) screen resolution your TV supports, (2) whether you're playing solo or with a friend on the couch, and (3) which retro era you most want — NES/SNES era, or PS1/GBA era, or all of it.

Maizic G5 Retro Game Box

Mid-tier all-rounder. ~5,000 preloaded games across 20+ platforms (NES, SNES, Genesis, GBA, PS1, even some Dreamcast). Two wireless controllers. HDMI output up to 1080p. ₹2,500–3,500. Best 'I want everything' choice.

Zepplay Retro Game Stick 4K

Top of our range — true 4K HDMI output, ~10,000 games, supports up to PSP and Sega Saturn emulation. Two 2.4G wireless controllers, USB-C charging, save-state support. ₹3,500–4,500. Best for 4K TV owners and serious nostalgia trips.

Bop It Game Stick Lite (Hasbro)

Hasbro-branded so quality is consistent. Curated 200+ NES/SNES/Genesis library. Single-screen 1080p HDMI. Two wireless controllers. ₹1,800–2,500. Best for kids and casual play — fewer games but the included ones all work well.

VGRASSP 2-Player 400-in-1

Designed for couch co-op — two pre-paired wireless controllers, focus on multiplayer NES/SNES/Genesis titles (Contra, Mario Bros, Streets of Rage). 400 curated games. 1080p HDMI. ₹1,500–2,200. Best for friends-over weekend gaming.

Storio Pocket / TOYTONIC Handheld

Handheld variant — doesn't plug into TV but has 3-inch built-in screen and HDMI-out option. ~400 games. Battery 3–4 hours. ₹1,800–2,800. Best for kids on the go or as a travel toy.

Blorkbuy R36 Ultra (Linux Handheld)

The enthusiast option — Linux-based handheld with proper EmulationStation, supports custom ROMs (use your own legally-backed-up ROMs), runs up to PSP/N64. ₹4,000–5,500. Best if you want to add your own collection rather than stick with preloaded.

FAQ

Retro game stick questions, answered

Are these sticks legal? Aren't the games pirated ROMs?
The hardware is legal everywhere. The preloaded games are in a legal grey zone — they're emulator ROMs of titles that are typically still under copyright. In India, this is unenforced for personal use, and the manufacturers (Maizic, Zepplay, Hasbro-licensed Bop It) operate openly. If you want a fully legal route, get the Blorkbuy R36 Ultra and load only ROMs of cartridges/discs you legally own. We don't load ROMs for customers — that's on you.
Will the controllers stop working after a few months?
Cheap sticks (₹500–1,200 range that we don't stock) — yes, the controllers fail in 2–6 months. The brands we carry use proper 2.4GHz wireless and rechargeable Li-ion controllers; they typically last 1–2 years of regular use. We replace defective controllers within manufacturer warranty (usually 3–6 months) for free.
Maizic vs Zepplay — which one?
Maizic G5 if you have a 1080p TV and want the broadest game library at moderate cost. Zepplay 4K if you have a 4K TV (the upscaling actually looks great), want PSP/Saturn games, and don't mind paying ₹1,000 more. Both have similar emulator quality — the difference is output resolution and game count, not gameplay feel.
Can I add my own games to these sticks?
On most preloaded sticks (Maizic, Zepplay, Bop It): officially no, but you can usually access the SD card slot or USB to add ROMs. We don't help with this — it voids manufacturer warranty. On the Blorkbuy R36 Ultra (Linux): yes, fully supported via standard EmulationStation file structure. We can show you how on a demo unit.
My kid is 6. Which one is right for her?
Bop It Game Stick Lite (Hasbro brand reliability + kid-friendly curated library — no Mortal Kombat in there) or Storio Handheld (built-in screen so she doesn't fight you for the TV). Both are tough enough to survive a 6-year-old. Avoid the high-end Zepplay for kids — too many games leads to choice paralysis.
